Enchanted First Night of Dreamland
On March 22nd 2008 an aura of magic descended over Coney Island and Lola Staar's Dreamland Roller Rink was born!! Beneath an enormous full moon, the historical landmark Childs Building on the Coney Island Boardwalk was transformed into Lola Staar's Dreamland Roller Rink..... for just one magical night.
Since that night, Lola has been working night and day to reopen the Dreamland Roller Rink. She has overcome many obstacles in the labyrinth of obtaining permits and insurance for the rink. These obstacles have added exorbitant costs to the reopening of Dreamland! Costs that we simply cannot cover with the budget in our business plan. After some generous donations we are very close to being able to reopen.... but we aren't quite there yet! Hence, we need your help to reopen the fabulous Dreamland Roller Rink.
You may be saying to yourself "but I thought Lola won a contest that paid for the opening of her Roller Rink." Well...the sponsors of the contest help to set the wheels of the dream in motion by hosting a one night Roller Skating Party. Since that party, it has been up to Lola to figure out a way to manifest this dream into a reality!! We need your help to make it happen!!
Lola Staar Theme Song!!
Briana Winter and Brandon Wilde captured the essence of Coney Island in the Lola Staar theme song which Briana performed live at the opening of the Dreamland Roller Rink!! One of the most magical moments of the night was when Briana Winter, wearing a stunning white three piece suit, skated into the center of the roller rink as Lola Staar's Heartthrob roller dancers swirled around her, doing a fabulous routine which was choreographed by Angie Pontani!
L - O - L - A.... Briana sang in her velvety voice "Be a star... come on LIVE FOREVER".....and the entrancing roller disco beat filled the walls of the historic Childs Building....
The beautiful terra cotta King Neptune reliefs whose color has been worn thin from ages of seaside revelry, looked on as the skaters circled, again and again...and laughter and music filled the salty sea air. You could feel the ancient walls rejoicing at the amazing life and energy which filled it's space for the first time in decades. It truly felt like that historic moment would live forever in the Spirit of Coney Island!
